Rainy Day Run and a Giveaway!

This didn’t stop

And the longer I waited the less motivated I was

And then this happened

And exactly 1 mile in I decided 20 on this bad boy was not happening.

So I made it 10 in 1:18 and called it quits. When I walked through the door of my house less than 2 hours after I left LD thought I was injured. Knock.on.wood. I just didn’t have it in me. Mentally not motivated turned into physically not motivated. Sigh. 10 miles is 10 miles but not what I had in mind. Buttttttt….

Tomorrow is another day. And it is supposed to be sunny. That will make me smile.

When a run goes bad

The best medicine is Starbucks with friends!

It was pouring down rain yet my friend Randa met me for coffee and girl time. It was AWESOME. And needed!

Stacey wasn’t there with us but this was the only picture I could find. I know, some friend I am, huh? While we were sipping hot drinks and watching the rain Stacey was out running Santa Barbarawhere it wasn’t raining. Oh, and sneaky OUAL was there breaking 4! Congratulations friend!!

Time To Decorate!

Today’s Run

7.5 miles on the trusty TM. Achilles held up- just a little sore this afternoon which is to be expected after a little more than 14 on Saturday.

Now that the sun is rising later almost all of my weekday runs will be on the TM. It’s not safe to run in the dark solo. Good news? Running on the TM gives me chance to listen to my iPod. Score. If anyone has any new tune suggestions send em my way!

Now That It’s October

I got the green light to start decorating for Halloween. LD got our boxes out of storage yesterday

and needless to say these people were very excited

Some of my favorite decorations at Halloween are creepy candles. Back in the day there was a company called Illuminations that sold the most awesome Halloween goods

Since the company went out of business I will probably never burn these babies. They are so cool!

He changes colors while burning. Pretty neat!

Tonight we will start putting up spider webs and the outdoor decorations! Our talking bats are the best!

Do you decorate for Halloween? Anyone running a race in costume?

Back At It

I Was Running

Today’s Run: 7.5 miles, TM, felt eh

This was my first run post the Warrior Challenge and it went. It took close to a 1/2 mile for my achilles to warm up and not feel sore. I decided to run for an hour and get it what I could. It wasn’t a horrific run but it wasn’t glorious either. At least it was pain free…until I was done.

I stretched and iced and that made it maaaad. Seriously, it felt worse with the ice pack on. Thank the lord for ibuprofen. I am at a loss at this point. I know I just took a full week off so some soreness in my achilles is expected. However, I am 8 weeks out from Las Vegas and need to start getting 15,18,20 milers in. Feeling.worried. If it was sore after today’s run what will it feel like after a long run this weekend? YIKES!

Maybe I need to put on my regular old neutral shoes and take them for a spin. My Kinvaras have more than 200 miles on them so they need to be retired. My shoes could be contributing to the problem, no?

Simple fact:

I WANT TO PUNCH MY ACHILLES IN THE FACE RIGHT NOW.

I apologize to those of you who have been keeping up with me and are sick of hearing about my petty injuries and are wondering if I will ever be back to 100%. Truth be told I am wondering the same thing. Power of positivity right? I figure once I get past this I am golden.

Hope my Ragnar team doesn’t give me the boot! GALS, I promise I will be 100% ready to go by April! NO DOUBT!

K…back to work!

Shoe thoughts? Could my beat down sneaks be the issue?
