I love the above picture of my family. It’s old but it makes me smile. Time is fleeting and looking at this reminds me of how far we have come.
I started running at the end of December 2009. My Dad asked me to run the San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon with him. My youngest was 9 months old and I needed something for me. It sounded like a crazy idea but I never turn down a challenge. Without thinking I registered for the race…and then realized I only had 6 months to train for 26.2 miles. I know that seems like plenty of time, but I had never ran further than 1 mile in my entire life!
I registered for a few races to get ready. My first? The San Dieguito Half Marathon. I had 6 weeks to get my butt in gear and I was nervous. I frantically searched the internet on how to start running, bought some shoes and I was off. For some reason it just didn’t seem that crazy at the time. In February 2010 I ran my first race in 1:53. It felt like such an accomplishment! I ran the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon in June of 2010 in 3:59. I was hooked. My love affair with running began.
After several years (some frustrating) of learning about nutrition, strength, and recovering from ridiculous injuries I got my game dialed in. I qualified for Boston in 2013 (by 10 minutes), broke a 1:39 half and am slowly working toward the goal of that sub 20 min 5k. I’m only a few years away from being in the “masters” division which sounds pretty cool. Running master. Course ninja! Watch out now!
I am a mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. I work hard, and play harder. Faith is the center of my home. While I don’t blog as often as I used to, I am on Instagram and Twitter on the regular. You can find me there.
Wow! You are just surrounded by runners!! All my friends run, but no one in my family does, haha! I barely convinced my husband to run a 5k with me last year, but hey, he did it in the end! 🙂 Love your blog and I love that you love the Lord! 🙂
Your whole darn family is adorable (including your mom and dad). So neat that you all run.

Thanks Jaymee! Wish you were going to be there 🙂 Oahu is going to be our next vacay 🙂
How cute ! A family of runners.

Love your blog… If you get a chance please come check out my running community for moms!
Thank you and I will!
Love that ur whole fam runs! What an awesome looking bunch! 🙂
Aww thanks! It’s something fun to do as a family 🙂
I am very impressed in your ability to do it all! Stay-at-home mama here, and have trouble finding time to fit it all in, but I am trying! Thanks for the inspiration!
You can do it! Balance is hard- especially this time of year. Good grief it’s non-stop!
You are an inspiration! I had my first child six months ago and cannot seem to get my pace back to where it used to be. I blame it on all the hills in the new area we live in. 🙂
OMGosh congratulations!! Girl, you will get it back. Those hills will make you lightening fast on a flat course. The hills kicked my hiney last night so I feel ya!
Just wanted to let you know I think you are amazing. You ARE one hot mama:) I just started running about 4 months ago and just did my first 1/2 marathon in 1 hr 58 min. I was pretty proud. Like you, I think I am totally hooked. I have already signed up for a full marathon in 7 weeks……RUnning has been a huge blesssing in my life so far and I also work 55 hours a week and have a one year old and a two year old so I totally get it. NIce meeting you!!!
You SO understand! Congrats on finishing your first half in a SPEEDY time! So awesome 🙂 Can’t wait to hear all about your first full! Want to be my neightbor so we can run together every morning?!
SO much positivity and inspiration on here, I’m LOVING IT. You’re a rockstar!
Congratulations on maintaining your efforts which clearly have turned into successes such as family, community, and quality of life for you and those around you. It is inspiring to see someone who has kept it up, particularly with a young family and I hope it continues to spur you on that you’ve provided motivation to someone all the way down in Brisbane, Australia.
All the very best in your continuing journey. I look forward to your posts along the way.
Thank you! That means so much to me. It does not come easy but it is worth it 🙂
I just happened acoss your blog and love it! My mother just recently went to live in San Fran, Cali so it’s neat to read about runners out that way! I’m still in NC…anyway, your family is awesome! No one runs in mine! I feel like a loner haha But my kid will get in on the fun with me with Fun runs! Sometimes. It’s also encouraging to read about another mother and full-time working gal who runs! I wonder if I’m completely nuts sometimes but like you I’m hooked! *although I’m NOwhere near as fast!* :~) all this to say: I enjoy your blog much!
Hi and thanks for reading! How does she like San Fran? I love the city! I don’t get there as much as I used to but when I am there I never want to leave 🙂 You NEED to go visit!
Without running I think we would be crazy 🙂 It’s amazing how much we learn to juggle as moms! No matter what our paces are we do what we love. That in itself is awesome. Looking forward to keeping up with you!
Wow!! A whole family full of runners. I bet it is awesome to always have someone eager to run a race with you 🙂 Keep it up!
Thanks Sharen! It’s one thing that is active that we can all do together. We are pretty lucky to have so many events here in town that allows us to run/walk/enjoy one anothers company 🙂
She loves it! And as soon as I find my money tree that’s mia I’m going to visit! 😉
Ah I love this story!! Get it girl!!!!
You are amazing! Because of you I think I am going to try and do the Rock and roll marathon 🙂
