Nonsensical Ramblings.

Heeeelllllloooooo everyone! Happy Monday and Happy Christmas week. Are you all ready?!?

This is my favorite time of year. I love decorating, I love celebrating and I love that we end the year on such a high note. In a time where everyone is constantly rushing, stressing, etc it is so NEEDED to just stop and wrap up the year in a positive way.  It’s the best! Looooooove it.

The past week has been kind of a whirl wind tying up loose ends in the office. I have been working very long hours and as a result my running has been lacking a bit. My hubs and kids brought me coffee last Friday and it made my day. Loved getting that distraction in the midst of chaos! Right now we are in the middle of Relative Performance Reviews (RPRs) and I want my team’s hard work to be recognized. That’s just how I roll. Taking it to the mattresses baby.

Sooooo last week’s workouts ended up looking like this:

Monday: 8 miles

Tuesday: 6.3 miles

Weds: Vegas- nada

Thursday: 1 mile, 20 min spin, 1.15 miles, weights

Fri: rest

Sat: 4.4 miles that were AWFUL. Just plan bad.

20.85 total miles. Eeeek. I guess it’s better than nothin. How did I make up for it?

Sun: Walked a zillion miles at…DISNEYLAND!

There is nothing like taking a break from the crazy and just enjoying Christmas at Disneyland.

My husband proposed to me in front of this castle. In front of everyone. Talk about feeling like a real life princess. I know, you are barfing a little right now. That’s ok, I’ll take the pukey moment. Needless to say this is my favorite spot in the whole park!

H-man was super irritated that I wanted to take ANOTHER picture when all he wanted to do was go on the Buzz Lightyear ride. How dare I waste one more second on a photo? DUH.

One person who didn’t mind photos?

Little Cinderella lets me take pictures all day long. She is practicing for when she is famous. Or a beauty queen. OR both.

So now you have an idea of where I have been and what I have been up to! I am so looking forward to this last week of hard work to get a few days off to enjoy time with the fam.

Running wise I took a rest day today but I really need to get back at it with Carlsbad being about 5 weeks away. I have pretty much decided that I am going back to training on the Run Less Run Faster plan for the next couple of months. With my schedule it will still help me get in the quality runs while avoiding injury. We all know how my PF loves to try to make a come back.

Anyone have any exciting plans this week? New Years? Races?

IF you haven’t signed up to participate in an event that will get you active in 2012 what are you waiting for?!? If I can drag my sorry butt out of bed at 4:15 in the morning you can too. No, it’s not always fun but it’s worth it! Come on peeps: 2012 IS YOUR YEAR TO COMMIT TO GET FIT!

  1. I want to sign up for a race of some sort but haven’t decided yet. I want to work my way slowly back up to half marathons, so maybe a few 5K’s and 10K’s will happen first 🙂 Have been getting serious about some yoga and have considered teacher training in a couple years..that’s a long-term goal, though. I have to have goals!

Sounds like work has been crazy for you lately! Glad you will be able to get some time off with the fam soon!

  2. So fun! Totally jealous of your proximity to Dland!!! And LOVE the proposal in front of the castle… I’m a total sap. 🙂 Hope the busy sched slows down and you can enjoy the holidays with the fam!

2012 is definitely my year to commit to get fit, because after I pop this baby out, I’m going to need to work harder than I probably ever had to get back to my regular fitness level… looking forward to track workouts with my baby jogger this summer!!! 🙂

  3. You went back to Vegas again? You have been busy bouncing around Socal/LV. No wonder you have no time to run!

I am so ready for this week to be over. This is the problem with getting the entire week after Christmas off. It’s freaking awesome (I have never worked for a company that does this before, so, it’s still a major treat in my mind). Now all I can think of is Thursday. Thursday. And where is Thursday, already. Then I’ll have 11 days in a row off. It made yesterday feel like an eternity.

    1. Yes. Again. Flew to Vegas, met with two different brokers and flew back to SD. I have been exhausted. Friday I worked from 7:30 am until after 8pm. Stupid cell phone was blowing up over what I would consider to be non-emergencies. Gotta love the corporate world.

I am so jealous of your company’s close at the holidays policy!! You are so lucky! Are you guys hiring? Kidding. Or am I?

  4. That’s SO cute that he proposed in front of the castle! I love Disneyland way too much for a 25 year old, but how can you not? It’s magical! Your kids look so happy there too 🙂

The only thing I’m signed up for so far is Ragnar, but I’m looking into a couple more half marathons in the spring then I plan to run my first FULL marathon sometime in 2012!

  5. Amen! I’ve been getting up early to get my workouts in too. I love morning workouts! So nice to just get it out of the way…definitely is the reward for getting up so early before work!

    Merry Christmas to you!

  6. How adorable that he proposed at the Castle…love that! I am definitely getting signed up for some races early next year. Need to get into action…my nephew is getting married on June 2nd (on the Queen Mary!) and I need to look GOOOOD by then. 😉

    Merry Christmas!
