Rainy Day Run and a Giveaway!

This didn’t stop

And the longer I waited the less motivated I was

And then this happened

And exactly 1 mile in I decided 20 on this bad boy was not happening.

So I made it 10 in 1:18 and called it quits. When I walked through the door of my house less than 2 hours after I left LD thought I was injured. Knock.on.wood. I just didn’t have it in me. Mentally not motivated turned into physically not motivated. Sigh. 10 miles is 10 miles but not what I had in mind. Buttttttt….

Tomorrow is another day. And it is supposed to be sunny. That will make me smile.

When a run goes bad

The best medicine is Starbucks with friends!

It was pouring down rain yet my friend Randa met me for coffee and girl time. It was AWESOME. And needed!

Stacey wasn’t there with us but this was the only picture I could find. I know, some friend I am, huh? While we were sipping hot drinks and watching the rain Stacey was out running Santa Barbarawhere it wasn’t raining. Oh, and sneaky OUAL was there breaking 4! Congratulations friend!!

  1. You crack me up, and I felt sooo less guilty for rolling over and not getting up for a run this morning because I didn’t want to run on a treadmill (whoa… I’ve turned a corner and LIKE – LOVE – running outside!).

As for your giveaway, I think it’s great – I have a few friends that battle Rheumatoid Arthritis, so I plan to be running this race, preferably by the luck of the draw of the random.com gods 🙂 Contemplating what to wear… though it will require some red & green sparkle, no doubt!

On a more charitable note, since you don’t have any “control” over the winner of this giveaway, I would love your help in winning my recent fitness challenge – 8% of my body weight lost in the past six weeks put me in the top seven, but now I need to beg, plead, and tweet for votes: Hi all,
Shameless plea coming your way. I was part of a fitness challenge and made the top 7! Voting has started and I need your votes. 🙂

  2. Well, at least you tried! Hopefully today’s weather will be much better and you can get your 20 in.

Nothing like QT with friends, though!

  3. Ooohh I’m doing the Holiday Half the day before this race but I’m always down for a quick jaunt down to SD for races with friends 🙂

I promise not to keep anymore races secret. Hahha

  4. Sounds like fun and a good reason to start racing again 🙂 Not sure how much I’d dress up…the bells on my shoes might drive me insane, but I’d at least put some festive ribbons in my hair.

  5. Don’t count me in on the race – I’ve already registered for Santa-to-the Sea ($38 Schwaggle) that weekend.

I was wondering if you ran in the rain. It would not stop yesterday. The dogs were restless – pacing around the house. I ran them today after my un-race but Louie (2-yr old mini Australian Shepherd) was still in pace mode. I don’t understand him – I guess 1.5 hilly miles at 10:00 pace (with no prior dog-run-training) wasn’t good enough to tucker him out for the rest of the day.

    1. Poor doggies! The rain was crazy- the river by FV Mall was flooded so I got detoured yesterday trying to get to Friars Road. Crazy how we flood within 5 minutes, I swear! Ready for the TT next week?!?! Run and then foooooooooddddddd

  6. Good morning!

Definitely running! Definitely going for a PR! (Which hopefully won’t be too hard since I ran a slow 35:20 at the Silverstrand 5k yesterday and still managed to PR) I’ve been running for about 4 months now and have greatly improved, but I WANNA GO FAST! Oh and yes, yes, yes will definitely be dressing up in all my Santa girl glory. (:
    Can’t wait!

  7. i love that i made the blog! i don’t love that i made a grand entrance with that atrocity of a pic! yikes! but i love you, lady. and, i’m glad (for my sake), that your long run wasn’t happening that day.

  8. I agree…Starbucks is the best medicine!!! I think a 10 mile run when you aren’t feeling it mentally and physically is awesome!

  9. Just found your blog! And yes, the rain was relentless on Saturday…I haven’t done a 5k in years, but am always up for a reason to run, especially in some festive attire 🙂
