Good Morning Party People! It’s Wednesday which means 4th of July weekend is almost here!
4th of July was so fun as a kid. My family used to have big parties on our ranch and my Dad would put on an awesome firework show at sundown. Playing with sparklers was the best! I loved writing my name in the sky. It’s crazy how things have changed since then. Fireworks are no longer available for purchase at a neighborhood store (something about wildfires: weird! ha). Many of our beach communities have cancelled firework shows over the ocean due to cost and arguments about their effect on the environment. I am sure they will get things figured out but it’s such a bummer!
Since my kids are still young and the 4th is on a Monday they will not be able to stay up for fireworks (shows start at 9pm here). Instead I am participating in an event that rhymes with “ace” and then we will be hanging out on Coronado island for all of the festivities! A big parade and fun times at the beach! It’s going to be a beautiful day!

I love 4th of July. We typically head down to the local parade in the morning – which is mainly old men from the local rotary club riding in sports cars, 5 billion beauty pageant winners ranging from newborn to college age, a ton of boyscouts and random local sports teams – it is all a bit cheasy but I love it , then we head back relax and prepare for our annual bbq we host every year and after everyone has filled their tummy’s and downed some drinks we convince everyone to take the 1 mile walk through our neighborhood to the sports park where they have live music, jumpy houses and fireworks. This will be our 7th year of doing this. Although this year we are having the bbq on Saturday instead, the parade and walk to the park will be our little family only. I can’t believe we have to wait 4 more years before 4th of July is on a Friday. booo!!!
T-town knows how to do it on the 4th! That sounds like fun!!!
This is the first 4th that I am not looking forward to! I don’t know how my 4 month old will do with the fireworks! haha I’m such a mom! Good Luck in your race!
I tried to reply back the other day after you commented on my blog but you have a no-reply comment email attached so I couldn’t 😦 but I agree! We ARE superheros! and I think Mickey Mouse Club House would be much better without the Ooooh Toooodles haha! She’s moved on to Chugginton now though so it’s okay haha 🙂

We’ll have to try to find each other. I don’t know how crazy it is down there. Have you done this race before? I haven’t.
I am in! Let’s definitely try to meet up at some point. I have never done this race but I heard it’s small but parking can get a little crazy.
For the 4th, we’ve been invited (for the 2nd time in a row) to a friends cottage up north. They have theme costume parties. During the day we hang out on the water and at night we have a huge loud dance party w/our costumes. One year it was pirates. Last year it was musicians. This year it’s TV characters. I think I’m going to be Jeannie from I dream of Jeannie and I think my husband is going to be the Incredible Hulk (he’s getting musclely so he can pull it off). The great thing is, we can take my boys who are 13 and 15. Everyone has a great time.
