The Sea Rocket

Ok peeps, I am off to Chuze for a 2 hour cardio sweat sesh. I was due to run 15 with the crew this morning but with the foot feeling sketch for the past two days I figured it’s not worth the risk of total injury. Until I return here is the scoop on last night’s “Try a new restaurant Friday”

~

Tonight’s pick came straight from LD. The SeaRocket Bistro on 30th.

Sea Rocket Bistro is a North Park neighborhood restaurant serving a menu of truly local flavor, sourcing food directly from our region’s farmers, fishermen, and ranchers. We focus on sustainably harvested seafood, organic produce and pastured meats, as well as featuring our great local craft beers and California wines. We frequently host special events that support and enrich our community. Just click on the Calendar link or subscribe to our blog to find out more

As soon as we walked up I loved the place. Darling hole in the wall in one of my favorite communities in San Diego.

Yes that sign makes it look like the street taco special is sardine flavored halibut.

We walked in to such a friendly staff. We didn’t have reservations (we didn’t even think about it since we eat as the same time as everyone over 90) but they were able to get us a table near the kitchen. THANK YOU!

Most people HATE sitting by the kitchen. When you have kids it rules. It’s loud so nobody notices that your kids are acting like little maniacs. It also keeps them occupied because they can see the chef’s, food coming out, etc.

Our view from our table into the bar and extended dining area

The food at this place is good! I would say it’s moderately priced as has everyting from tapas, to salads, to seafood to a free-range burger. It’s vegitarian and kid friendly as well!

The kids ended up with halibut tacos that they both scarfed. I went with the veggie risoto but only ate half of it because Tootie decided that she wanted that too. LD went with a seafood stew that he said was the bomb!

Total fail on food pics. When it came out we started eating and then I realized I didn’t take any. Sigh, sorry peeps.

Things I liked:

* Friendly staff

* Diverse menu

* Organic/sustainable food

* Good beer/wine list

* Kid Friendly

Dislikes:

* Street parking only in a super crowded hood

Over all I give this place two thumbs up! We will definitely go back…and make a reservation before doing so!
