Tuesday Bach Talk!

Today’s workout: 45 min spin, core. I see the doc at noon PDT- fingers crossed!

~

It’s Tuesday and that means 2 things:

1. Tomorrow is national running day! If you want to save some serious dinero on a RNR race get on the ball and register!  Click HERE for more info.

2. It’s time to discuss last night’s episode of The Bachelorette!!!

~

After meeting all the dudes last week it was time for Ashley to start her “dates.”  Last night started off with a one-on-one with William:

He received the date card asking him to “come make a splash” in Vegas. Ok, this lead me to believe they would be doing some sort of pool party/water something or another. However, when he landed they headed to a cake place and full on went through the motions of planning a wedding. UM AKWARD.  From cake tasting to trying on rings to going to the little white chapel she put this dude on the spot. When Ashley walked out in a little white dress with a minister I think he started to freak.  Poor guy was sweating bullets (He must have forgotten that there are 17 other dudes back at the house in LA). They start the vows and then Ash tells him they are not going through with it. She then whisks him away to a dinner on the water at the Bellagio (I guess this was the “make a splash” part?). The two have dinner and then get into a conversation about both of their father’s being alcoholics. Just as things were getting a little too sad the water show at the Bellagio conveniently started. Perfect opportunity for them to make out and people to cheer them on. YEAH, that was scripted AT ALL.

She ends up giving William a rose and says she really likes him.

** There was a point where he told her he wants to be a stand up comedian one day. Total foreshadow for next weeks “Ashley Roast.”  Word is he totally lays into her. Wonder if he will be around much longer…

Meanwhile back at the pad the remaining dudes get the next date card. Time for a group date Vegas style. Headed to sin city: Constantine, Ryan M., Chris, Ben F., Nick, Bentley, Lucas, Ames, West, Steven, Blake, Matt.

When the boys arrive in Vegas they head to a theater to watch the Jabbawockeez perform!! Ok, this would be a date that I would love…not so sure about a bunch of non-dancing dudes. As they sit and watch the show Ashley sneaks away and then appears on stage. She announces that the group of guys will be split up to choreograph a routine. The winners would stay in Vegas, perform on stage in front of a live audience and then hang out the rest of the night with Ash. The losers would head back to LA.

The winning group was: Blake, Bentley, West, Ben F.,  Nick and Lucas.

They all have dinner and then Ashley announces she is giving BENTLEY a rose. I will not go into what that doucher says on camera, however, I don’t feel sorry for Ashley. She was warned. SHE IS AN IDIOT FOR KEEPING HIM AROUND.  In my opinion the producers had this set up from the start. There has to be a “villain” right? When Ashley told Chris Harrison she was warned about Bentley they probably asked her to please keep him around. RATINGS BABY RATINGS.

The final one-on-one date was decided by the flip of a coin and went to Mickey:

He met Ash in Vegas like the rest. They picked out a bottle of wine and had dinner at Mandalay Bay with a surprise performance by Colbie Calliet. Mickey opened up to Ashley about his deceased Mom. At the end of the date she had him flip a coin to determine if he got a rose. Hubs said it was lame. I agreed.  He ended up with a rose after winning the coin toss. Ashley said she would have given him one regardless. STILL LAME.

We wind up at the rose ceremony where she still keeps the masked man around. Whatever. I can’t imagine The Lone Ranger will be around much longer. Crap like this gets old fast. Dudes are over it, Ashley seems like she is over it (producers involved?) and I am over it.  Someone send in Tonto so they can ride off and fight injustice somewhere in LA County.

The following guys were eliminated: Ryan M, Matt, and Stephen.

~

It’s been 2 weeks and I haven’t noticed a CLEAR favorite yet.  She did chat with JP before the rose ceremony so I bet a one-on-one with him is coming soon. We shall see!

Let me hear it:

What did you think about last night’s show?

Do you see a favorite yet?

Do you want to yell “High Ho Silver” and send the Lone Ranger packing?!?

Happy Happy Birthday!

Today’s Workout: 3 mile run @ MP, 25 min spin, hilly walk around the SD Zoo.

~

Today is my little man’s 4th Birthday!

We started with birthday breakfast and then gathered the fam and headed to the zoo! We could not have asked for better weather. 70 degrees, sunny and a slight breeze. PERFECTION.

He had a blast checking out the elephants, tigers, monkeys, bears and hippos. The SD Zoo is huge and hilly so after just over 3 hours he was spent. He had an absolute blast and is counting down the days (one week to be exact) until we go to Disneyland which is a birthday tradition. Dude can’t wait!

Happy Birthday H-Boy (that’s what his sister calls him). You are a gift from god and a true blessing. Love love love you!

~

Prior to our day of Animal Planet I squeezed in just over an hour workout. Foot is sore. I am sad. T-6 days til RNR- expecting the worst but praying for the best!!!

Come on get Hapi!

Last night we headed 20 minutes north to Encinitas to try out HapiFish

This is a cute spot located on North Coast Highway. It is moderately priced, very casual and seating options include indoor, sushi bar or patio.

My crappy photos don’t do this place justice. The patio is big (think party patio) and there is 2 sushi bars inside. Thank goodness I don’t work for Food and Wine magazine. I would be fired.

There are 2 menus. A sushi menu and then a dinner/patio menu with a ton of non-seafood options. Love that they offer alternatives for people who don’t like fish. The kids menu even offered corn dogs. Where else can you have sushi and corn dogs?

SP went for sushi
H had sushi and corn dogs. Not kidding.

We really liked this place. There are several sushi restaurants in San Diego county and this one ranks high on our list for the following reasons:

* Fish is GREAT. Melts like butter. Lots of options!

* Menu is diverse with options for non-seafood eaters

* Food comes out FAST (important for those of us with kids. or those of us that go to restaurants starving)

* Awesome HapiHour daily

* Kid Friendly

* Awesome Staff

They told us that reservations are recommend between 6-8 pm on the weekends. Unlike many beach restaurants this one has ample parking.

If you are in the SD area or drive through for a visit go eat at HapiFish. You will not regret it.

~

Time to head to church and tackle the usual Sunday chores!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

If you don’t want to hear any whining today press the little “X” in the upper right hand corner and save yourself now. If you choose to read on you have been warned.

Today’s Run: 8.3 miles…sad face.

The sad face is not because that I only ran 8.3, the sad face is because I had to stop at 8.3 miles because my foot was getting sore. WHY WHY WHY? I cannot put into words my frustration. PF is the worst injury and it takes FOREVER to heal.

One of the men that runs with us is a chiropractor and he graciously worked on my foot post run. What a brave brave man. I screamed it hurt so bad. But whatever he did worked because as I sit here with ice on it the pain is almost non-existent. Easy for it not to hurt when I am not pounding.

In addition the Nike GPS watch was struggling ONCE AGAIN.

I put the sensor in my shoe as recommended by tech support and it was NO HELP. The GPS signal dropped multiple times and at one point it said I was running a 20 min mile. UM NO. I walk faster than that.

I am at a loss. I will be calling tech support again today and if they can’t get it right I am asking for a refund and buying a Garmin. Period.

END OF COMPLAINTS.

~

Last night my rock star hubby played a sold out show **BRAG**

Yes it’s awesome. And a totally acceptable reason as to why we didn’t do the usual new restaurant Friday night. Do you know what that means? We will be having new restaurant Saturday tonight! Yippeeeee! I.love.sushi. Hope this place is good!

77 degrees = Hot Sweaty Mama

Today’s Run: 4 miles

My original plan was 3 miles that somehow turned into 4. I am kind of mad at myself given I plan to run 10 tomorrow and need to be very careful with my foot.

It was beautiful outside- around 77 degrees. The only tough part was the wind gusts. I was running into a headwind for the first mile and a half. My hood is rolling hills so combine that with wind and it’s a stinking good workout out.

I am not used to running in heat so 77 degrees turned me into a hot sweaty mess!!

Grease Grease Baby

Downed my protein shake now I am off to shower, pick up a few birthday gifts and pick up the kiddos from school.

SO.HAPPY.ITS.A.LONG.WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here’s To You

Happy Friday peeps! This is going to be short and sweet because we are closing the office early today so I have A LOT to do in a short amount of time. SO.EXCITED.FOR.THE.WEEKEND.

I am going to do an EZ run after work today to test the foot. If there is any pain I may need to stick to cross-training until the race next week. I will update this afternoon along with Fo-toes.

For now I leave you with this from See Jane Run:

See ya this afternoon!

Oh Yes I Did Go There…

Today’s Workout: 45 min elliptical, core

~

I am getting so super excited for RNR! I have obeyed docs orders all week and other than a 3 mile run on Monday I have only cross-trained. I will admit I am a bit scared about my foot. I am going to run on Saturday with the gang to see how it does. At least we are running in an area where if I needed to stop and go back it’s no big deal. A total “no-commit” trail.

~

For whatever reason I have been on a total old school kick lately. I told LD the other night that I miss the old milk commercials with the cow jumping over the moon. Remember that one? “Milk it does a body, milk it does a body good! Pass it on!” HA!

So in keeping up with my kicking old school theme I started to think about exercise fads that people did that might be embarrassing to admit. Come on, we have all been suckered into one of them!!

You too can have thighs like Chrissy!
OMGosh...no words

Now you must be wondering which one I got suckered into. I am not afraid to admit. You have heard me say it once and I’ll say it again: AINT NO SHAME IN MY GAME!

Get abs without working out!

Oh yes I did. Actually my WHOLE family did. I am pretty sure my mom got each of us one on Ebay back in 2000!! Do you remember this baby?! It claimed to work your abs without doing a single crunch!

I remember having to slather on what was similar to ultrasound gel or water. If  I did not put it on before hand that belt would shock the ever-loving mother out of my abs! FREAKING HILARIOUS.
To this day I still say the thing somewhat worked. Maybe it’s just because it would contract my ab muscles and that hurt like a @!#$%^@$I^*#!!!!!! Or maybe it’s because I used it in conjunction with my workouts. I’ll never know.
So tell me:

WHAT CRAZY EXERCISE FAD DID YOU FALL

VICTIM TO?

Please tell me someone has tried this:

Jump Jump

Today’s workout: 40 min spin intervals, strength training.

~

For those of you that do spin or have tried spin you know what jumps are. I would like to officially declare that I hate jumps. Here is why:

1. The spin bikes in my gym are located in the middle of the cardio floor. There is no class so each bike has a virtual monitor attached. When I get to a section that requires jumps everyone else around me is looking at me like I am a total maniac humping the bike. Yes they do. Cue video of  how to do jumps:

Now picture that from the side and you’ll get my drift.

2. JUMPS ARE HARD. Legs burning, sweat pouring, butt kickers. I know, that’s not a reason to hate them. In fact, that should make me love them.

~

I am so proud that I have continued my week of run rest. Interval training has been good to keep my cardio up and has given my body much needed rest. I plan on a 9-10 miler on Saturday to get my legs ready and then will likely only do 2 short easy runs next week. I can’t believe race day is almost here! YIPPPEEEEEEE!!!!

P/S My doctor was right about shoes. As soon as I laced up the Asics this morning they fit my foot like a glove. Guess we are meant to be. My Brooks are the same way. Guess Nike and I are just meant to be cross training buddies…for now.

Anyone have any Memorial Day Weekend Plans?

~ My boy turns 4 on Monday so this is his weekend! BBQ, sunshine and birthday. Love it!
